About the Artist
Hi! I’m Libby Harrington, the artist behind Broomtree Co. You might be curious about the name, and I’m happy to share the story. It comes from the biblical story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. Elijah, feeling weary, lonely, and desperate, was met by an angel under a broom tree. There, the angel provided him with food and rest.
This story really struck a chord with me. Years ago, I was in a tough season, longing for the rest and provision that only God could give. I wanted my own "broom tree moment." That season turned into years, and I’m still waiting for that breakthrough. Life continues to be challenging.
But as I reflect, I realize I've had many "broom tree moments," regardless of my circumstances. God has been faithful in providing for me over and over again, bringing peace, joy, and rest in times when it seemed impossible. Elijah had it much worse than I did—maybe that's why he got to see an angel. I'm still hoping for that encounter myself!
As far as creating the pieces you see on the website, that took some time. I have always wanted to create something special for others, but nothing really stuck. I created mosaic pieces, knitted, some minimal woodworking, etc., but most of my projects were one and done.
In 2021, I did my first resin project using seashells I’d collected from Captiva Island, FL. I had gathered so many, I didn’t want them just sitting around in a cabinet. So, I made my first set of tea light candle holders—and I was hooked. What else could I preserve in resin?
Flowers were the next obvious choice. I love the beauty they bring, and I had a garden full of them just outside my door. I started learning how to dry flowers and preserve them in resin. Since there weren’t any resin classes in Hot Springs, AR, I turned to social media to pick up tips and tricks. Most of it, however, was learned through trial and error.
I’m always striving to learn and improve my craft, but I’m excited to create something special for you. Whether it's your wedding bouquet, a floral arrangement in memory of a loved one, or flowers from your own garden, I want to help preserve the stories those flowers tell. Let me capture those memories for you.
